A journey into the mystery of God, the Self, and the Soul

Welcome

I’m Shawn, a minister, resident psychotherapist (almost done!), and lifelong seeker of the mysteries of God and the Soul. Since a spiritual encounter at fifteen, I have been walking a path of faith, psychology, and transformation.

My calling is to help people hear the voice of the Soul again, what Jung called the Self and what Christians know as Christ within us. Whether through preaching, counseling, or teaching, my work is about guiding others to a deeper wholeness and a living encounter with themselves and God.

Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.
“The decisive question for all of us is: Are we related to something infinite or not? That is the telling question of their life. Only if we know that the thing which truly matters is the infinite can we avoid fixing our interests upon futilities.”
(Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections, p. 325)

Lent was never meant to impress anyone. It was meant to form us.
In The Way of Lent, Rev. Shawn Garan guides readers through forty days of Scripture, reflection, embodied practice, and prayer. The tone is quiet and grounded, offering space rather than pressure. Each day invites a steady return to what matters: honesty, endurance, and simple faithfulness.
This is not a devotional of spiritual shortcuts or dramatic promises. It is a companion for those who want faith to feel lived rather than performed.
Over time, small practices become deep roots. And deep roots endure.

The Living Symbol: A Psychospiritual Systematic Theology explores the deep connection between Christian faith and the inner life of the human soul. In this book, Rev. Shawn Garan argues that many people today experience Christianity as empty not because the tradition has lost its power, but because its symbols have lost their meaning.
Drawing on Scripture, early Christian thought, and the insights of depth psychology, The Living Symbol reintroduces the Bible as a symbolic map of the human soul and its transformation. The stories of Genesis, the teachings of Jesus, and the message of the early church reveal a profound spiritual journey: the recovery of the divine image within us and the restoration of our relationship with God.

At the center of this journey stands Jesus Christ, the “Living Symbol” in whom the invisible God becomes visible and the divided human soul begins to be made whole.

Written for thoughtful readers, seekers, and believers alike, this book invites us to rediscover the depth of the Christian tradition and to encounter the gospel not merely as information about God, but as a living path toward spiritual wholeness.
